Our Family
The Hazan family has traversed through the world before making Rio De Janeiro their home. Coming originally from Egypt they were forced to flee Alexandria, Egypt in 1956 due to the growing anti-Jewish sentiment at the time. The Hazans spent 5 years across Europe and Israel looking for a new home and new opportunities. They finally stumbled upon Brazil when a cousin of the Hazan family opened their eyes and ears to the opportunities there. Of course, they took the leap of faith and made Brazil their new home.
Ronnie Hazan is the founder of the Hazan Unique boutique. He didn’t always start that way as he first worked in his father’s fabric business. During that time his eyes opened up to a new and colourful world of precious stones and he simply couldn’t look away. So, he followed his passion and in 1978 opened up the Hazan boutique in Rio De Janeiro, right next to the famous Copacabana Hotel.
As family heirlooms go the baton of this jewellery house was passed on to Ronnie’s second eldest of seven children, Gabriel Hazan. Gabriel leads this boutique in the same spirit as his father by keeping the legacy of this fine jewellery house intact while adding modern touches for the woman of today and tomorrow.
Our Passion
Hazan Unique specialises in bespoke fine jewellery ready to be passed on as family heirlooms from one generation to another. Inspired by the unparalleled beauty of colourful gemstones, Hazan unique is built on the cornerstones of passion, craftsmanship, beauty and the customer at the heart of it all. We do offer a limited selection of our finest ready-to-wear pieces for the customer on the go as well.
Ronnie’s passion meant that he wanted to know everything about the jewellery making process from the moment a rare stone is found to the polished and shiny end product in the hands of a beautiful customer. So, they set up a workshop in Rio De Janeiro where they mine rough stones to discover the rare ones worthy of being cast into a beautiful and timeless ornament.

We want you to feel at home from the moment you express your desire to the time when the fine jewellery piece is a reality, to be adorned and admired.
The first Impression
Hazan was founded because of a passion for colourful gemstones and how they enhance the beauty and life of the wearer. Inspired by the glamorous clientele of the Copacabana Hotel next to it and with a desire to serve them Ronnie went on a journey of his own to understand the stones, the history, the jewellery making techniques across the world. He travelled to the mines across Columbia, Australia and Africa to really understand things from the ground up.
When you have a deep passion for something it shows and so Hazan Unique has successfully built a network of private clientele globally.. Hazan’s rare stones have also caught the eyes of the major jewellery districts in the world and so the fine jewellery house proudly supplies gemstones to New York’s diamond district, London’s Hatton Garden and Tel Aviv’s Bursa.
